Lenders like to know if you’ll be able to pay back a loan. Your credit score gives them a window into your credit history and helps them determine your credit worthiness. If you have a higher credit score, then lenders will assume you’re more likely to pay back your loan. Information that may be used to calculate your credit score sometimes includes your bill pay history, the number of credit accounts you currently have open, the age of your open credit accounts, the amount of available credit you already have, as well as other factors.
