Start.Credit is here to connect you with a lender through our online application that you can complete in confidence and in the security of your own home.
There is no fee to apply for a loan. Additionally, you are free to reject your option for a loan by the lender, and you may search for other rates. Start.Credit is not itself a lender and does not make any lending decisions. Instead, we connect you to a third party lender in our network of lenders, who will make you an option which should include the loan amount, the fees, the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), and the terms of repayment, among other things. Depending on your state residency, the maximum loan amount, the interest rate, the amount of times one may roll over (if any), and the fees for rolling over will differ.
Each lender has its own policies covering important things like privacy, how it uses the personally identifiable information collected from you, terms and conditions, fees, consequences of late or non-payment of your loans, additional fees that may apply for late or non-payment of your loan, the possibility of renewing your loan, fees attached to renewing your loan, and its collection practices, among other things. We strongly encourage you to review your specific lender’s policies and to direct any questions or concerns you may have to your third party lender.
To qualify for a loan, you must be: 1) a U.S. citizen or legal resident; 2) at least 18 years of age; 3) have a valid Social Security number; 4) be employed or have some form of income; and 5) have a banking account in your name. Additionally, some lenders may require you to show proof of previous financial responsibility.
APR (Annual Percentage Rate)
APR is the amount of interest you would pay on a personal loan over the course of a full year. While we do option example rates for your information, Start.Credit is not a lender and does not set APRs. The APR of your specific loan is determined by your lender according to the loan agreement and varies depending on the information you provide when you submit a loan request as well as your lender’s policies and terms.
After you have selected a lender and are approved, you will be presented with a loan agreement which discloses the terms of your loan including the APR, fees, finance charges, and other terms. Generally, APRs for personal loans range between 6% and 36%. The exact APR depends on the method of calculation, terms of the loan, fees, and renewal options. The following table represents sample rates, is for information purposes only, and may not reflect the actual APRs offered by your lender:
APR | Amount | Period | Monthly | Total Paid |
6% | $4,000 | 24 Mo | $177.28 | $4,254.78 |
